Bio

Felix Krenzien is a visceral surgeon with a focus on liver surgery and a clinical scientist with a focus on diseases of the liver. After his Research Fellowship at the Transplant Surgery Research Laboratory, Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Felix Krenzien joined the Department of Surgery at Charité in 2015 and has been a senior physician since 2021. In addition to the analysis of non-invasive markers for the detection of liver tumors, one of his main topics is the investigation of the role of metabolites on the immune response in liver tumors and patient outcomes. It remains poorly understood, for instance, why some patients with hepatocellular carcinoma do or do not get tumor recurrence. The idea would be to positively alter the metabolome here in such a way as to reduce tumor biology and thus the likelihood of recurrence and improve survival. Completing his translational research is improving hepatobiliary tumor conferencing through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) will provide the technical basis for data extraction, data filtration and decision support for the automated generation of therapy
